Dalmatians can be friendly or aggressive depending on their degree of socialization and training.
Dogs similar to modern Dalmatians were found in ancient Greece. Officially, Croatia is considered to be the birthplace of this breed, which was once home to Greek colonies.
Dalmatians are very energetic, intelligent and freedom-loving dogs. They love long walks and need a lot of exercise. Their owners have to be very persistent with them in order to achieve obedience.
The number and location of the spots on each Dalmatian is individual. No one has taken to standardize their location. Nevertheless, it is considered that the ideal Dalmatian is the one, looking at which you do not want to add or remove spots.
Physical activity
Regular exercise is very important for Dalmatians. They are
rather large, hardy and strong pets that simply need to release their energy. Only then will they behave in a docile manner and listen to their owner in everything. Otherwise, the Dalmatian may start chewing things, trying to run away and other mischief.
By the way
Reactions to strangers in Dalmatians are very individual. They can be friendly or aggressive depending on the degree of socialization and training.
Specifics of care
Dalmatians molt throughout the year.
White hair is very noticeable on dark surfaces and is sometimes difficult to remove from carpets or woolen fabric, so it is desirable to comb out pets regularly. The procedure usually takes no more than 2-3 minutes, but it helps to significantly reduce the amount of hair in the house.
In particularly severe frosts, Dalmatians can get cold, so they are dressed in special overalls. However, as long as the temperature does not drop below -20 °C, they feel quite well.
Training
A Dalmatian can be enrolled in a training group from 4-5 months of age. It is advisable that by this time the puppy already knows the commands “No”, ‘Place’, “Come to me” and has been taught to walk on a leash.
