Large poodles are tireless travelers who adapt to almost any climate.
Poodles have always been valued as intelligent and reliable companion dogs.
In ancient times, large poodles were used as hunting water dogs, in addition, they often accompanied scientists and aristocrats, and were famous as skillful circus performers. However, there is still no consensus on their origin. Some claim that poodles evolved from shepherd dogs, others that their ancestors are old “water” dogs, which have long been used for hunting.
Temperament and Character
Poodles are very cheerful, observant and intelligent dogs. They easily find a common language with the household and get along well with other pets, including cats. They are loyal friends of lonely people and brave protectors of children.
The shepherding instinct is clearly visible in poodles during walks. They always take care of their owners and are ready to protect them.
This is one of the most intelligent breeds. Poodles have an excellent memory, a sharp mind and rich emotional experiences.

Care and Maintenance
Poodle owners must follow several mandatory procedures. The first of them is the care of the coat. The pet should be accustomed to cleanliness from the first months after the puppy's birth. Dogs need to be combed and cut. In addition, they need regular claw trimming, eye and ear cleaning. Poodles rarely spread unpleasant odor, but you still need to wash them periodically.
Particular attention to the care of the pet should be paid when it begins to turn from a puppy into an adult animal. Fluff is replaced by fur, which requires the use of a special massage brush or fluffer to help remove dead hair without damaging the skin.
Basic haircuts
The classic poodle haircut is called the “lion's haircut”. In this case, the waist is trimmed to the ribs, in addition, the muzzle, cheekbones, part of the head near the eyes and paws are cut. Only a small tassel is left at the end of the tail. Some owners also prefer to leave a little hair on the front limbs - the so-called “pants”.
Another common haircut is in the style of “modern”. In this case, the hair on the paws is only partially trimmed (up to the heels and tarsi). The hair on the body is left at a length of 1 cm. The lower part of the ears remains unchanged. The tail and head are cut according to the variants described in the standard.
Raising
Dogs usually enjoy training very much. Their character combines the intelligence and energy of natural shepherds with the passion for game presentation that characterizes “water” dogs.
During walks, they get to know their surroundings with interest and do not show unmotivated aggression.
