Pointers were bred in Great Britain from smooth-haired Spanish and Italian Pointers, as well as a litter with a French broodmare. In addition, bulldogs, setters and greyhounds participated in the creation of the breed. By the end of the XIX century breeders managed to get a modern pointer.

Hunters were especially interested in this breed. After all, beautiful, hardy and good-natured pointers have excellent instinct and excellent working qualities.

The Pointer can be trained from the age of six months. Even two-month-old puppies begin to amusingly point game, stretching out in a string. To test this, take a rod or a long stick and attach a bundle of bird feathers to the end, then raise it in front of the puppy, imitating the flight of game. The puppy will stop and freeze. The main thing is not to let the pet grab the “prey” - such an action without the owner's command is considered unacceptable for a hunting breed.
