Ukrainian Levkoys look very unusual: they are not only bald, but also lop-eared. Like other representatives of sphinx breeds, these unusual-looking creatures are sociable, intelligent and easy to train.

History of the breed

The Ukrainian levkoy is the result of crossing the Scottish Fold with the Don Sphynx. Breeding work began only in the 2000s. The breed was officially registered in 2004, and in 2007 the first kennel appeared in St. Petersburg.

Care

Lefkoys are unpretentious in care. They have an excellent appetite and are unpretentious in food. Folded ears need regular inspection and cleaning. Representatives of this breed, like other sphinxes, need to cut the claws and periodically bathe or wipe. The pet should also not be in the sun for a long time, as it can get a sunburn.

Levcoi have an absolutely amazing character. Being by nature very affectionate, they become attached to their owners and easily find a common language with other animals. If guests come to the house, this pet will not hide, but on the contrary - welcome them and will begin to entertain.

Breeding

The lop-eared gene may be present only in one of the parents of a pair. The mating of two lop-eared individuals, as in the situation with Scottish Folds, is strictly forbidden, as it can lead to serious genetic defects. The standard allows crossbreeding of Ukrainian lewkoys with Don sphynx, European shorthair and domestic cats.
