It is the most miniature representative of the Spitz group. The name of the breed comes from the historical region of the same name in Germany - Pomerania. The breed's popularity flourished during the reign of Queen Victoria, when the Pomeranian Spitz first arrived in England.

Care and maintenance

The pride of the Pomeranian is its wonderful thick coat, which is lifted by an abundant undercoat. It stands almost vertically, so you get the impression that the muzzle is framed by a fluffy collar.

Spitz wool practically does not shed and does not bunch up, so care for it is not very difficult. Pomerantz is enough to comb thoroughly twice a week with a metal comb and comb - in different directions. Bathe these dogs as needed, after washing, it is desirable to dry the hair with a hair dryer. Additional care consists in regular clipping of nails and brushing of teeth.

However, affectionate but firm training and early socialization allow them to get along well with other pets. When training a Pomeranian, a certain amount of firmness and persistence is necessary: as soon as these dogs feel even a slight relaxation on your part, they are instantly ready to become masters of the situation.

Spitzes are wonderful companions for the elderly and those who spend a lot of time at work: these little dogs do not require constant attention and can easily be alone for a while. Pomeranians are very sensitive to changes in their owner's mood and are always ready to adapt to the current situation. They are especially affectionate to children, but you should be careful not to accidentally harm the Spitz in active play.

Being very active dogs, Pomeranians love walks in any weather, but it should be remembered that they do not tolerate heat and high humidity. Spitzes love to play, but lose interest in their toys quite quickly, so it is advisable to constantly alternate them and make sure that your pet has new activities.
